18 year old entrepreneur Cameron Smith wins £50k prize fund for Young Start-up Talent East Kent 2014

The winner of the £50K prize fund from Young Start-up Talent for East Kent has been announced as 18 Year old Cameron Smith who has created a business called Made to Measure, aimed at providing a reliable and personal cleaning experience with those who own second homes.
Held at the Gulbenkian Theatre on the 11th September the showcase event was hosted by founders Lorraine Nugent and Matt Turner with guest speakers including Pete Kenyon of Cripps, Bob Heapy of Town & Country Housing Group, Mairi Coyle from the Gulbenkian Theatre alongside two previous winners - Sam French of Sam’s Kitchen and Eden Tiltman of Bales Care Agency.
Cameron commented “I’m feeling ecstatic! It’s been hard work but even if I hadn’t won, the experience has been amazing. I’m so pleased!”

The event was attended by local business professional’s, members of the education sector, sponsors of the initiative along with the finalists showcasing their business with the chance to make contact to help develop their ideas further. All of the entrepreneurs that have passed through the process have the opportunity to keep in touch to gain further experience as well as Young Start-up Talent offering catch up meetings with each of the finalists to plan their next steps into the world of business.

Young Start-up Talent has run workshops across the East Kent region since November last year in its search for the next set of entrepreneurs who want to start their own business. Having only launched in the region for the first time, the interest from aspiring entrepreneurs has been incredible with entries flooding in with a vast range of exciting ideas and concepts.
17 year old Karendeep Sangha’s business - Kino’s Bakery offers a selection of tasty treats to customers who have intolerance to gluten, wheat, diary and egg allergies. Her first product is a fairy cupcake which was seen in the Young Start-up Talent Final.
18 year old Valeriia Reznik whose business is called HealthyMe and brings a creative new approach to audiences both young and old, with her first product introducing them to green tea. Her new concept is set to highlight the benefits by using a series of inventive methods as well as a board game.

23 year old William Ward is a graduate from the University of Kent. William has a business called Imerzo and is hoping to adapt in-flight entertainment, updating current systems to make them more viable, intelligent and intuitive for future users. In what is a very fast paced industry, this concept could be the next big project in the aeronautical industry.
18 year old Sammy Ali’s concept is called Infusion Weddings and designed to help couple’s through the planning stages of a wedding, in a stress free environment from the comfort of their own homes. With the wedding industry in constant demand this could be a very interesting prospect to follow.
